Chamber Mixer: Great Opportunity to Raise Profile

WayneAs business people, we all depend on technology to communicate and do business with customers quickly and efficiently.  But that’s only part of the story.  As community bankers focused on building relationships, we at Tompkins VIST Bank know that nothing beats face to face interaction.

We’ve found that hosting a chamber Business Card Exchange has been a great way to start relationships. Tompkins VIST Bank hosted our third annual card exchange and mixer with the Main Line Chamber, and I must say it was our best yet. In fact, attendance has grown so much that this year we had to find a bigger venue.  The mood was open and casual, and we saw a lot of friendly discussions taking place.

During my opening remarks, I welcomed guests and introduced our staff, including those from the branch, small business lending, cash management as well as our insurance and investment affiliates. I completed my remarks by sharing some anecdotes about ways we value our customers.Wayne 6

We met with a lot of folks and, in addition to getting to know their needs, talked about our capabilities, like local decision making. We emphasized our focus on small business, which has allowed us to be the first bank our size to offer an online small business loan application process that’s available 24/7.

One of the reasons the mixer was such a success was our co-host. The Main Line Chamber is the best business development partner I’ve seen in my 25 years in business.  In addition to supporting mixers, they host many venues that allow us to meet business leaders and prospects in a wide variety of settings.  The chamber also encourages support of charitable events, which are equally important to us as a community-focused bank. Supporting non-profit organizations suggested by our customers and employees is in our DNA as a local community bank.  Examples include Take Back the Night Foundation, Holy Family Winter Ball, Bringing Hope Home, Honor Flight Network and Juvenile Diabetes.

Wayne 2We know that the relationships that began at our recent Business Card Exchange will continue to grow thanks to the many excellent venues the Main Line Chamber continues to provide. We look forward to seeing you at the next one!
